NEW YORK, January 20, 2015 – Will Claye and Chaunté Lowe are two of the greatest jumpers in the world, but more than that, they are also two of the greatest entertainers in track and field. Both soon will use the Armory New Balance Track & Field Center as their center stage.

Claye and Lowe will bring Broadway flair to the 2015 Armory Track Invitational (ATI) on Saturday, January 31. Claye returns two weeks later to The Armory to take part in the historic NYRR Millrose Games on February 14.

Claye, 23, aims to become the first man to win Olympic gold medals in the triple jump and long jump at the 2016 Games in Rio de Janiero.

Lowe, 31, is a two-time Olympian and mother of two who remains one of the top high jumpers in the world.

“We need more Will Clayes and Chaunté Lowes in our sport of track and field,” said Ray Flynn, the coordinator of the ATI’s and NYRR Millrose Games professional events. “They bring their own brand of swag and energy in jumping higher and farther. We are delighted to feature them at the Armory Track Invitational and have Will come back for the 108^th NYRR Millrose Games.”

Claye made his first appearance at The Armory in 2014 at the New Balance Games. He broke the building record in the triple jump with a mark of 55-11 that was fueled by his charismatic interplay with the crowd. This year, Claye will perform twice at The Armory. In addition to the ATI triple jump, he is entered in the long jump at the NYRR Millrose Games.

Claye summons energy from the crowd and then pays it back in kind with dynamic performances.

At the U.S. Outdoor Championships last June in Sacramento, Claye capped his personal best jump –58 feet, 3 inches – and then leapt into the grandstand to celebrate with family and friends.

Lowe’s best moves often happen after she’s cleared one of the highest bars in a given competition. The spontaneous dances that follow her clearances express her joy and draw attention from the crowd. The dances are a calling card and made her a lovable fan favorite for more than a decade.

Lowe is the American record holder in the high jump, with a best of 6 feet 8 ¾ inches in 2010.

Last week, USA Track & Field announced that both the Armory Track Invitational and the NYRR Millrose Games will make up half of this season’s indoor USATF Championship Series. Both meets at The Armory New Balance Track & Field Center are scheduled to be televised nationally by NBC Sports Network (NBCSN): Armory Track Invitational, 4:30-6:30 p.m. January 31 and NYRR Millrose Games 6-8 p.m. USATF.tv will carry live events from both meets as well.

The Armory Track Invitational (ATI) is a new event featuring some of the country’s finest professional, collegiate and high school athletes and replaces the former Collegiate Invitational. More than 40 collegiate teams and hundreds of high school competitors will compete in the ATI.

Highly-touted middle-distance performers Mary Cain, and Ajee Wilson will clash in the 800m  and Galen Rupp will be featured in both the 1-Mile and 2-Mile events. Mathew Centrowitz, a world silver medalist (1500m), will represent a USA team on a leg of the much-anticipated international distance medley along with teams from Kenya, Ireland, New Jersey-New York TC, and college DMR squads from Villanova, Columbia, Wisconsin, Mississippi, Duke and Princeton.

This year’s NYRR Millrose Games promises to be one of the best ever and features the likes of Olympic gold medalist in the pole vault Jenn Suhr, world champion hurdlers Jason Richardson and David Oliver, 2014 World 800m leader Ajee' Wilson along with the “fast and fashionable” Sanya Richards-Ross, who will attempt to break her own Armory Track record of 50.89 in the 400m. Ashton Eaton, the decathlon and indoor pentathlon world record holder, should add plenty of excitement to the New Balance Track and Field Center at The Armory along with many more of the sport’s most decorated athletes yet to be announced.

This marks the fourth NYRR Millrose Games at The Armory and will include the country’s premier professional, college and high school track & field athletes competing on one stage.
