Joe Kovacs Headlines Men's Shot Put at 118th Millrose GamesPublished by
Anticipation continues to build for the 118th Millrose Games, scheduled for Sunday, February 1st. In addition to the elite-level competition on the track, the world’s best throwers will take center stage, competing in the Men’s Shot Put on the middle of the infield. Three-time Olympic silver medalist Joe Kovacs leads the group, competing against four other athletes ranked in the top ten globally. The Nike Track & Field Center at The Armory will be the venue for the 118th Millrose Games. Joe Kovacs is the Olympic silver medalist in 2016, 2021, and 2024, the 2015 and 2019 World Champion, and the owner of the second-furthest mark in history. A three-time Diamond League Champion as well, Kovacs currently possesses the World #1 ranking. “I’m so excited to open my season back in New York City at the iconic Millrose Games,” said Kovacs. “Competing on the East Coast, close to family, and stepping into an event with so much history is the perfect way to kick off the year. The energy in those stands is unmatched, and I can’t wait to put on a great performance to start the season.” Rajindra Campbell is the reigning Olympic bronze medalist from Jamaica. He is ranked World #6. Josh Awotunde is the 2025 US Champion outdoors and a two-time World Championship finalist, taking bronze in 2022. He is ranked World #9. Tripp Piperi took the US title indoors in 2025, before earning bronze at the World Indoor Championships. He is #5 on the World list. Roger Steen is the World Indoor silver medalist. His World ranking is #8 currently. Chuk Enekwechi is an Olympic finalist, as well as the Nigerian and African record holder in the event The 118th Millrose Games is a World Athletics Indoor Tour Gold meet. Other athletes announced include Olympic medalists Grant Fisher and Cole Hocker in the Burgess Family Foundation Men’s 2-Mile, and three-time champion Elle St. Pierre is looking for another victory in the NYRR Women’s Wanamaker Mile, who will be racing against Paris Olympic silver medalist Jess Hull, 8x U.S. Champion Nikki Hiltz, World Championship silver medalist Dorcus Ewoi and U.S. outdoor mile record holder Sinclaire Johnson.
